The magic in this collection is the juxtapositioning of tribal motifs and visual epitaphs - including ancient symbols and an abundance of tartan - made high-energy with bright fun colours that remind us not to take like so seriously. The statements made are bold and striking, Punk at the core, intertwined with historical references of bygone times. Together this manage makes the wearer feel confident about themselves. Balmoral tudor like hats are a main feature, with Scottish and Tudor influences running through the shape and design of the clothes, combined with symbolism from ancient cryptic to Baroque. All seen in technicolour, and with the embellishment of gold sequins, stars and beads.

Diana Vickers exclusive interview at the Aminaka Wilmont AW1213 show

Aminaka Wilmont's beautiful AW1213 collection and an exclusive catch-up with Diana Vickers.

'Soft meets hard' are the three words that, to me, best describe the partnership between Maki Aminaka and Marcus Wilmont, that is Aminaka Wilmont. The AW1213 collection is relaxed and self assured, themed around 'the singular perfection of design in nature' with the designers' stylish Scandinavian roots running through it. Its a collection that is complex and full of contrasts, but these contrasts intrigue and entrance me. Signature leather garments, sculptured weaves and jersey drapings: and a use of colour that ranges from dark and sultry to breathtakingly eye-catching.

Much of the attention at the start and end of the show was around Diana Vickers. We caught up with Diana in the very stylish Tom's Bar at Somerset House, where, in addition to getting her reaction to the show, she was extremely gracious when we asked her a very personal question as you can see in the video... the answer is 'Gin and Tonic with a dash of Elderflower'. We assume that's, 'Shaken, not stirred!'
We add our congratulations to those of Diana Vickers and a very appreciative audience, which go to Aminaka Wilmont for a very successful London Fashion Week show.

Ashish AW12 with Mollie King

The Ashish AW12 Show at London Fashion Week was held up for the entrance of Mollie King of the Saturdays, who had just arrived back from LA. Or maybe it was just the flurry of press activity around Mollie - who looked great by the way – that made it look that way. It was lovely to see Hilary Alexander – who raved about the collection.

In the video taken immediately after the show, we catch up with Mollie King – as you can see she is every bit as nice as she looks - and see Hilary Alexander talking to an Australian news channel. Well done Hilary Alexander for championing British designers yet again. Hilary, you are our hero!
